Lani in Hawaiian means Heaven. I find the glow and movement in this painting ethereal. Peonies very much embody that daintiness.  The transience of flowers is a reminder the beauty of aging and fading. They have a heavenly existence. I worked to make the flowers glow and feel as though they are fading. My subject for this painting was Coral Charm Peonies after their pink has faded. I find that stage of this flower the most beautiful part about its life.
